Search Engine Workshops, Advanced Strategies - Day Three

Friday, February 23rd, 2007

Last night was really great. I met up with my friend Daphne for a massage and she worked me over something fierce. Daphne Jean aka DJ, Wow, I wish I lived here I’d get one of those a week. When I got back to the hotel I found Dave with John and Robin hanging out down in the sports bar. (Unbeatable) Dave asked me for a “lesson” on the pool table. So I gave him one and won the match too. Surprise! This morning I had the omelet instead of the buffet. good decision.

Today we started the Workshops with John Alexander, who talked about Media for the Web, (more…)

Search Engine Workshops, Advanced Strategies - Day Two

Thursday, February 22nd, 2007

Adam’s Mark has a pretty good breakfast buffet. Tomorrow I think I’ll try the Denver omelet.

John Alexander started out today with a session about LSI (Latent Semantic Indexing) originally known as “Latent Semantic Analysis.” John explained (more…)

Search Engine Workshops, Advanced Strategies - Day One

Wednesday, February 21st, 2007

I decided not to drive to Denver until the morning of the Search Engine Workshops. I set my alarm for 4 am. The problem is that I could not get to sleep until 2:30 am. So I am sleep deprived as I arrived and realized what a messed up downtown structure Denver suffers from. Anyway, I made it and strolled into the workshops about a half hour after they started. (more…)

Hey, this blogging stuff is kinda fun! I even started a category called “Rant.” And no one complained when I posted to it. How wonderful! It’s like having a pet turtle or a goldfish or a… hmmm.

Today, while I was in a consultation with Lauryn at Jackson Hole Central Reservations, the folks who run the Jackson Hole Blog, we were talking about blogging and I thought, (more…)

Algorithmusical

Friday, February 16th, 2007

Interesting to me is how a good algorithm is similar to a well composed piece of music!

A good algorithm has interesting formulas composed of things like vectoring and densities and proximities and frequencies and percentages and semantic analysis and democracy. Similarly (more…)

Denvers 15% Bed Tax!

Monday, February 12th, 2007

I just made my reservation for lodging at the Adams Mark Hotel in Denver. I’m headed to the Search Engine Workshops next week. SEW worked out a nice little group discount. I guess the rooms are normally $189 per night (really?!), and I get two nights at $139 each which comes to $278 (I feel like they should throw in a massage for that much money!). (more…)

To CAPITALIZE or not to capitalize Page Titles

Wednesday, February 7th, 2007

The question arises:

“When writing a page title, should you use all caps, all lowercase, or is there another way that is best?”

What I have found is that it is best to treat your titles as if they were the subject line of a news paper article. This method is called “Title Case” and it looks like this: (more…)
