You may have heard of “indicator species?” Like green tree frogs, for example, which indicate the health of an eco-system?
There are some searches you can do on the Web which will help you indicate the health of your search marketing efforts.
Usually, from the get go, when someone contacts me to help them, there are some things I want to know about the domain as soon as is possible. Read the rest of this entry »

Winter, 2005, the massive Jagger update is happening at Google and here comes the Big Daddy database too. It was a big 3 months. A lot of spam got cleaned up. And something became apparent, Google had decided that a businesses “reputation,” that is, “what others say about a business” should carry more weight than what a Webmaster, designer or SEO can do or say on the page. In other words, Read the rest of this entry »

Today was part II of my presentation about blogging with Word Press. Cindy Turrietta from the eMarketing Talk Show interviewed me for an hour.
We talked about Word Press themes and plugins, links and blogrolls, writing posts and pages and all the features related to each, and about management of comments and comments spam reduction methods. We also talked about Blog marketing, optimization, promotion and subscriber retention.
All in all, I’d have to say that it was a great show.
Here is a link to Part 1 and to Part 2 of “Bad Ass Blogging.”
Come back and leave comments here.

Here’s a great resource online friends. It’s the eMarketing Talk Show founded by Cindy Turrietta, in SanDiego, California. There are some great talks archived here by some really great search marketing minds. You should check it out.
In December, 2006 Cindy had me as a guest and I spoke on Advanced White Hat Search Engine Marketing Strategies.
On March 30, Cindy invited me back. The topic was Bad Ass Blogging Part 1: Using WordPress to Build Search Friendly Websites, which continues this Friday, April 30.
Tune in for part 2. Come back here and leave a comment after the show.
Congratulations to Cindy and Brooke and Todd and Crew and all the presenters!

This is important! More and more, prospects are coming to me and I find real quick that a crisis percentage of their pages have moved into Google’s supplemental index.
The way to find out if any of your pages are in the Google supplemental (low value) index is like this:
Go to Google.com
Search Google for site:www.yourdomain.com
Start looking to see where they begin. You will know because the bottom row of data also says: “supplemental.” If you have more than 20% of your pages listed in the supplemental index then you should take action. These pages are usually stale and often share or duplicate content. If you do not know what action to take you can call me, or find an SEO expert near you to consult with.
But you should certainly at least see if you have a problem yet.

Wow, I just did my first video and served it up to You Tube, as well as to Yahoo and Google Videos. All of these uploads are free. I prefer the Google service to the You Tube as the viewing area and quality of the video are superior at Google. I will post a link to both so you can see and compare the quality of each for yourself. Read the rest of this entry »

During the 6th century b.c. the prophet and founder of Buddhism, Siddhartha Gautama, appeared in northwestern India teaching principles of enlightenment; specifically through meditation techniques and by knowing the Four-fold Noble truth and by practicing the Eight-fold Noble Path in life. One of those noble paths is called “right intent.”
On the path to enlightened search marketing it is imperative that one has the right intent. Read the rest of this entry »

Hey, it is March 12, my birthday again. It’s hard for me to believe it but yes, I am a baby-boomer.
So what should I do today? Hmmm. Should I do some research on Web 2.0? Should I optimize some content? Maybe I should blog about some really cool search engine marketing tactic.
Now that I think about it, I’m just going to take the day off and sleep as many hours as possible!
Yeah, that’s the ticket.

The SEO Toolbar that RankQuest developed is awesome. It has a whole slew of nifty applications all bundled into a nice neat package. Before I had to use several different pieces of software, some that I purchased to do my daily SEO Expert analysis thingys but now I can tackle a few of those dozens of important tasks from one place, my browser. Last night was really great. I met up with my friend Daphne for a massage and she worked me over something fierce. Daphne Jean aka DJ, Wow, I wish I lived here I’d get one of those a week. When I got back to the hotel I found Dave with John and Robin hanging out down in the sports bar. (Unbeatable) Dave asked me for a “lesson” on the pool table. So I gave him one and won the match too. Surprise! This morning I had the omelet instead of the buffet. good decision.
Today we started the Workshops with John Alexander, who talked about Media for the Web, Read the rest of this entry »
