In reference to online advertising, Cost per Click (CPC) is the amount an advertiser pays for posting an ad on a Web site when a visitor clicks on a given ad. Cost Per Click is often used interchangeably with Pay Per Click, a more general phrase referring to the act of an advertiser paying a fee for each click-through. Cost per Click more specifically has to do with how much an advertiser pays per click. The cost generally depends on the network or site the ad is posted on. Other acronyms commonly associated with Cost per Click are CPM (Cost Per Thousand), CPA (Cost Per Action), and CPT (Cost Per Transfer).
