Pay Per Inclusion (PPI)

The information below, which pertains to pay per inclusion, or pay for inclusion is nearly dated but still relevant. This PPI stuff was a GREAT marketing tool and model. But it seems that Yahoo has killed it. When Yahoo purchased Overture, it inherited Alta Vista and All The Web, two algorithmic search engines, each with a pay-per-inclusion model. Yahoo also bought Inktomi the same year and Inktomi provided search results for hundreds of sites around the world including the primary search results for MSN and Hot Bot for years. But "all good things come to an end" (I'm not sure who said that and I'm not sure that I've seen proof of it either) and Yahoo has ended all of those PPI programs. They have been replaced by Yahoo's new "PPI" program called Site Match. Cool, so PPI continues right? Well there is a catch. Site Match is also a Pay Per Click program, so you get double-whammied! I'll show you if, how, and when to use it, minus the whammy. In the mean while I will confide with you and get you listed into the best PPI Internet Directories, the secret ones that send traffic and contribute off page ranking factors in favor of your site (ie, contribute real link popularity to your site).

A very important area of search engine marketing is the "pay per inclusion" model. At this time, all of the major search engines, except for Google, offer PPI, that is, paying per page for fast inclusion into a search database. The pages of your site that are most important will usually be listed with 48 to 72 hours with the pay for inclusion programs. And these pages are crawled and re indexed much more frequently pages that have be crawled by a search engines spiders.

Paid pages do not guarantee better position, they only guarantee fast inclusion, usually for a year, with frequents refreshes. In itself this is a good thing. It is even a better thing if you are using SEO and search engine optimization to try and perfect your pages for search engine findability. This is why; Say you optimize a page and PPI it to a search engine, with in three days you can see how that page will position from the optimization it received. If it doesn't land high enough you can modify the optimization, as a test, serve the refined page back up and wallah, within three days you will see what affect the changes had to you positioning!

You can probably see the benefits of this strategy. I have done so many pay per inclusions and checked the stats for them that I have a good grasp of which PPI programs are great, good, mediocre and just not worth the money. If you hire me to optimize your Web site, I will make sure that you know of the saaviest programs and that you don't waste a penny trying to guess which are the best.
